22minsOld mosque in Nafplio and the first parliament
Situated in Syntagma Square, it is one of the city's most significant structures. In the late 1700s, it was first constructed as a Turkish mosque. With its massive proportions and large dome, it is a typical mosque from the late Otto architectural era. An early 20th-century earthquake caused the portico with domes to the west to fall. The structure was renovated following its recovery from the Turks, and the first Greek Parliament convened there in September 1825. The Ministry of Culture has renovated the Parliament in an excellent manner, and it now functions as a conference center and a location for other cultural activities.
