Impressive entrance to the Mycenaen

The Lion Gate, the entryway to the ancient city where the remnants of the Mycenaean civilisation may be seen, is a symbol of the Mycenaean prime period (1250 BC). The massive bas-relief sculpted on the lintel, which shows two giant standing lions walking on a stair with their front feet, is the source of the well-known Lion Gate's name. The north has a second entrance that is constructed in the same manner. The tunnels that passed through the walls, which provided the guard with shelter, are a common feature.
