Beehive tombs in ancient Mycenaean

Nine beehive tombs, also known as tholos tombs, are located atop the citadel's hill and are among the best examples of Mycenaean construction. These tombs, which date from 1500 to 1100 BC, are either royal tombs or the tombs of high-ranking officials. The most famous is the 13th-century BC tomb known as "The Treasure of Atreus." Agamemnon's father, Atreus, was the king of Mycenae. The famous "Mask of Arteus," a golden mask of a human face, was one of the most enigmatic discoveries made during the excavations, along with numerous other golden objects used for combat, domestic use, and women's accessories.
